From OER Commons Wiki

Before you begin.....

You need to have an account in order to post files or create documents on this wiki website.

To create an account:

1. Click on the LOG IN / CREATE ACCOUNT link, which is located in the upper right hand corner of this page.

2. Enter your desired Username and Password and click on the LOG IN button.

If you have an OER Commons [1] account, you must still create an account for this wiki site, but we suggest using the same login information for both sites.

To create your own OER from a wiki page:

A wiki page is like a web page that anyone can edit. So if you were to create a lesson plan on this site (the OER wiki), colleagues can make changes to it, since anyone is able to make changes to a wiki page. Creating curricula on wiki pages is one way for educators to collaborate.

To create a wiki page:

1. Click the EDIT tab located near the top of this page.

2. Use the inside scroll bar to scroll down to the bottom of the page. Then type double square brackets around your name in the section called ADD YOUR NAME TO THE LIST BELOW.

For Example: [[ Denise Hamilton ]].

Whenever you add double-brackets around a word or phrase, it creates a blank wiki page on this wiki. The word or phrase within the brackets becomes the title of your wiki page.

3. Scroll down the page and click the SAVE PAGE button.

The title of your wiki page, displayed at the bottom of this page, is now a link to access your new wiki page. Click on that link and you will get a blank page.

4. Type the name of the first resource you would like to create adding double square brackets around the title.

5. Scroll down the page and click the SAVE PAGE button.

The title of your wiki page is now a link to access a new wiki page. Click on that link and you will get a blank page. Now start writing! Don't forget to scroll down and click on the SAVE PAGE button.
