Getting Started
Create a Wiki Page
You need to have an account in order to post files or create documents on this wiki.
To create an account:
1. Click on the LOG IN / CREATE ACCOUNT link, which is located in the upper right hand corner of this page.
2. Enter your desired Username and Password and click on the LOG IN button.
If you have an OER Commons account, you must still create an account for this wiki site, but we suggest using the same login information for both sites.
To create your own wiki page that you can edit:
1. Click the EDIT tab located near the top of this page.
2. Then add your page to the bottom of this page by typing double square brackets around the desired title of your page. For Example: [[ Title ]]
3. Scroll down the page and click the SAVE button.The title of your new page, displayed in red at the bottom of this page, is now a link to access your new web page.
Create an OER
When you click on the title of your wiki page you will see a blank document. Now you can begin creating your OER. You can type text, as well as cut and paste text into your page. For formatting help, such as making text bold or underlined, use the editing help page http://wiki.oercommons.org/mediawiki/index.php/Help:Formatting
Once you are finished editing your wiki page, scroll down and click the SAVE PAGE button.

Inserting an Image into your Wiki Page:
To add images to the wiki page you create, you will first need to upload your image from your computer to this wiki. This will make the file available to you. Then you will need to point to it, using a link. Simply follow these instructions:
- Click on the ADD OER DOCUMENT link, which is located under the SHARING menu on the left side of this page.
- Click the BROWSE button and navigate through your computer to find and select the desired file.
- Type the file name into the DESTINATION FILENAME field. The file name will need to have the proper extension (jpg, pdf, html, etc.)
- Fill out the Summary section by describing the file (optional)
- Click the UPLOAD FILE button
As an example, if you uploaded an image called "Sunflower." The wiki would change the image name to "File:Sunflower.png." You will have to type that image name into your wiki page in order to insert your image, so make sure you remember the name of the image. Now you are ready to add your image:
- Go back to the wiki page you created.
- Click the EDIT tab located near the top of your page.
- Insert your cursor into your web page where you would like the image to appear.
- Type the name of your file and surround the text with double brackets. For example: [ [File:Sunflower.png] ]
- Scroll down and click on the SAVE PAGE button.
Inserting a Document Link into your Wiki Page:
To add a link to a document on your computer to your wiki page, you will first need to upload your document from your computer to this wiki. This will make the file available to you. Then you will need to point to it, using a link. Simply follow these instructions:

- Scroll down and click on the SAVE PAGE button.
