LO*OP is a general purpose educational corporation with nonprofit (tax exempt) status in the USA. Begun in 1975, LO*OP pioneered in bringing microcomputers to schools and the public in the 1970s and 80s, worked in intercultural communications and environmental education in the 1990s. It's projects since 2000 include a virtual museum on the History of Computing in Learning and Education (currently under construction in Second Life (R)) and developing a concept of Open Educative Systems.
